As a historical alpine town, Samoëns boasts of a rich heritage and stunning limestone landscapes. With its direct link to the Grand Massif, the resort provides varied slopes, from gentle cruisers to adrenaline-pumping black runs.
Beginners: Although there are no beginner slopes in the town, the gondola easily transports beginners to Samoëns 1600, where an expansive beginner zone awaits. While reaching these nursery slopes does require a bus and gondola ride from most accommodations, the area is equipped to help newcomers get comfortable on the slopes. The French Ski School ensures English-speaking tuition, with a majority of its instructors fluent in English.
Intermediates: Intermediate skiers will find themselves enthralled by the extensive terrains of the Grand Massif ski area. With a plethora of long, sweeping runs that encompass both above and below the treeline, the region is rich in opportunities. Notable runs include the 14km Piste des Cascades and the descent to Morillon, though do note that a bus ride back to Samoëns is necessary at the day's end.
Advanced: Expert skiers have over 40km of black-graded terrain to conquer in the Grand Massif. Areas like the Combe de Gers sector are especially enticing, with the "Styx" run being a highlight for those who enjoy bumps. The Marmotte and Chamois slopes, situated just above Samoëns 1600, challenge skiers with jumps and ramps, while the Diamant noir run stands out as one of the resort's most demanding.
Off-piste: Samoëns offers ample opportunities for off-piste adventures. The local ski schools can guide you through these terrains, offer heliskiing experiences (in nearby Italy), and even arrange trips to renowned ski areas, such as the Vallee Blanche descent above Chamonix — the world's longest.
Snowboarding: Snowboarders and freestyle skiers can make the most of Samoëns' access to the Grand Massif. The region boasts terrain parks located above Flaine, Morillon and directly above Samoëns on the Soleil slope.

Samoëns's rich history, tracing back to 1167, provides an added layer of allure for families keen on a traditional ambiance without the overwhelming buzz of other larger French ski resorts. Not only is the village itself steeped in character, but its commitment to young skiers stands out. Children under the age of 8 can enjoy free skiing – a perk that usually caps at age 5 in many other resorts. For those new to skiing, the French Ski School (ESF) offers tailored lessons combined with nursery care for kids aged three and above. Their dedicated ski kindergarten at Samoëns 1600 ensures a safe environment for learning, with the promise of the coveted "Piou Piou" or Bear Cub badge at the week's end to celebrate their progress. Childcare services are also commendable. The Garderie "Les Loupiots" accommodates children as young as three months during off-peak times, ensuring that parents can find some time for themselves on the slopes.
Snow activities: Paragliding, snowshoeing, speed riding, luge and tobogganing, fat biking, dog sliding.
Non-skiing activities: Cinema, climbing wall, diving under ice, dog sledding, heritage tours, ice rink, library, Spas and well-being, massage, yoga, swimming pool.

I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other ‘all-inclusive’ sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
