Alpe d'Huez, part of the Alpe d'Huez Grande Domaine Ski—one of the largest ski areas in France—offers an enchanting blend of sunny slopes, high-altitude skiing, extensive ski terrain, and exciting après-ski.
Alpe d'Huez enjoys excellent snow conditions thanks to its altitude, with skiing available up to 3,330m. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, the resort also benefits from modern snow-making systems that cover the lower pistes, guaranteeing good skiing conditions even in warmer weather. While January is often known for its fantastic powder days, the snowiest week typically falls in the second week of December, with an average of 3.2 snowy days and around 50 cm of fresh snowfall.
Alpe d'Huez offers over 250km of pistes, catering to all levels of skiers. Beginners will find some of the largest nursery areas in the Alps. Intermediate skiers can explore an extensive range of red and blue pistes, while advanced skiers can enjoy the challenge of the 16km Sarenne run, alongside other thrilling runs like Combe Charbonniere and Balme. Freeriders will relish the off-piste terrain, with high-altitude trails and deep powder awaiting beyond the marked runs. Snowboarders can take advantage of two dedicated snowparks, featuring jumps, rails, and a half-pipe for freestyle fun.
Alpe d'Huez is a fantastic resort for beginners, with extensive nursery slopes and designated areas perfect for building confidence. The Bergers and Jeux areas provide wide, gentle slopes, making it ideal for new skiers. Additionally, the resort offers special beginner lift passes that give newcomers access to these areas without needing a full pass.
Alpe d'Huez boasts several reputable ski schools that cater to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. ESF is the largest school in the resort, offering group and private lessons for all ages and abilities. Smaller schools like Masterclass and Stance Snow provide more tailored instruction, with smaller group sizes for a more personalised experience. Many of the schools also offer multi-lingual instructors, ensuring that international visitors can enjoy high-quality lessons in their native language.
Alpe d'Huez is an excellent family destination, offering a wide range of family-friendly activities. Highlights include the Junior ski zone atop the Signal lift, featuring a dynamic 1.2-mile track with playful elements such as banked turns and a cow-themed slalom. Families can also enjoy exploring the 120m-long ice cave at 2,700m, which features thematic ice sculptures each year. For more indoor fun, the Palais des Sports offers over 20 activities, including mini-golf and an aerial obstacle course, ensuring there's always something for the whole family to enjoy
Alpe d'Huez offers a variety of childcare options for families, ensuring that parents can enjoy their time on the slopes while their children are well cared for. The Piou-Piou Club, run by ESF, provides ski lessons and daytime care for young children. Private nanny services are also available in the resort, offering flexible care solutions for parents looking to enjoy some après-ski or evening activities.
Snow activities: Snowshoeing, dog sledding, ice skating, snowmobiling, paragliding, snow biking, Alpine coaster

I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other ‘all-inclusive’ sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
